Odoo drops a new major version every September, like clockwork, and 2026 is no different. Odoo 20 is set to be unveiled at Odoo Experience 2026 in Brussels, September 24–26, with a stable release likely landing in October or November. Here's what's actually worth planning for: not the hype, the substance.
The theme: less power-user, more autopilot
Odoo 19 was about horsepower. More features, faster performance, a cleaner UI. Odoo 20 is shifting gears. The direction across every early signal is the same: simplify the process, automate the manual step, put AI where the work actually happens. If 19 made Odoo stronger, 20 is trying to make it think.
What's actually on the roadmap
AI that does things, not just suggests them. Expect a move from "AI recommends" to AI that executes - drafting POs, flagging anomalies, running predictive scheduling - across modules instead of one bolted-on assistant.
A mobile app worth using. Odoo's mobile experience has always felt like a shrunk-down desktop. Odoo 20 is expected to bring a real redesign: faster load times, offline support for key workflows, and navigation built for a phone screen not a monitor.
New verticals get first-class treatment. Hospitality (Hotel+), construction (work-item quoting, progress billing), recruitment, auto repair, and care homes are all getting dedicated functionality instead of generic workarounds.
Smarter core modules. Accounting, CRM, inventory, and POS are all in line for deeper automation and tighter integration with each other — fewer manual handoffs between apps.
Payroll and HR simplification. Early signals point to reduced manual configuration in payroll, which matters a lot for GCC businesses juggling multi-country compliance.
Nothing is 100% confirmed yet
All of the above is based on Odoo's release pattern and pre-announcement signals, not an official spec sheet. The real feature list gets locked in at the Brussels keynote. Anyone promising you a definitive Odoo 20 feature list right now is guessing including us, to a degree. Treat this as a planning direction, not a checklist.
What we'd tell our clients today
Don't wait for Odoo 20 to fix problems you have right now. If you're still on Odoo 16 or 17, that's a support and security issue, independent of what's coming next. Get current first.
If you're already on 18 or 19, use the next few months productively:
- Audit your customizations. Know what's custom vs. core before migration, not during it
- Clean your data now, not the week before cutover
- Don't touch production the week Odoo 20 goes stable. Let the first patch land, then move 4–8 weeks after that
Odoo 20 is worth being excited about. It's not worth being reckless about.
